CHOCOVISION 2014
“Fast Forward. From cocoa to chocolate – Inspiration. Innovation. Impact”.
If there is one common denominator in today’s world, it is speed: Product life cycles that used to be years, have become months. How can we get our products in the hands of our consumers as quickly as possible? Speed is also of the essence when it comes to closing the existing and known gaps in the cocoa supply chain. The faster we manage to close these gaps the more value will we create for millions of cocoa farmers and for billions of consumers. And ensure the long-term success of our industry.
Unilever’s CEO Paul Polman said it was “absolutely imperative” to bring the stakeholders and the key influencers together across the total value chain together for solving some of these challenges we are all faced with. He also reminded delegates that we will be measured by our actions, not by what we say, and echoed the appeal of Peace Nobel Prize Laureate Leymah Gwobee to invest in women in order to achieve true social and economic development.
Building on the outcome of CHOCOVISION 2012 to better work together, a key topic of conference was CocoaAction, a strategy coordinated by the World Cocoa Foundation aiming for building a rejuvenated and economically viable cocoa sector through increased cooperation between industry members and the governments of Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana
