Dr. Markus Conrad was appointed CEO of Tchibo GmbH in 2006.
He started his professional career at Bain & Company in 1985 and became a Partner in 1989. From 1990 until 2005 he was CEO at Libri GmbH, a leading European book wholesaler.
Dr. Conrad studied Business Administration at Hamburg University from 1979 until 1993 as well as Music at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau (1984) and received his doctorate in Economics from Hamburg University in 1987.

A focus on long-term success and the paradigm of the honorable Hanseatic merchant have guided the conduct of Tchibo as a family-owned business since its incorporation in 1949. Based on this culture, Tchibo named corporate responsibility an explicit part of its strategy in 2006. The goal is to ensure responsibility in every aspect of business processes and to develop and enforce international social and environmental standards. This approach towards social responsibility received international recognition and various rewards over the last years.
